Don't Ever Say this to Your Boss!

If you are close to your boss most of you would have shared many of your thoughts and work experience with him to gather more knowledge from him, which is really a good sign for your good relationship. But there are few things which will be good if you never discuss with him at all at any time, because if you say something wrong or something which he won’t like can really damage your professional life. So, here are few things which can you can avoid saying it to your boss, as reported by Alison Green on U.S. News money website.

1. “Please write it to me”:

If you say this anytime to your boss, think that your career can likely get spoilt then and there, because it shows your interest on the assigned work. So, if your boss is discussing about the new project with you, make sure you write down the points simultaneously. Don’t ever ask him to write what he wants from you or mail you.

2. “It is not my mistake”:

Nothing else can make a boss look frustrated when an employee doesn’t agree the mistake which he had done. His frustration can sometimes turn him to take strong actions against you if you have committed the mistake. So, don’t ever give a chance for him to take strong actions against you. To avoid it, accept the responsibility and try to figure out the source of the problem and also take right actions in order to solve the problem and fix it in a right way. Don’t even think of ignoring minor mistakes as it can turn out to be a big mistake in the future.

3. “I don’t want to work with him”:

Workplace is the place where good relationships must be built whether you like it or not. It is very much needed for you to get along with people whenever possible. Don’t make a mistake of refusing to work with a colleague in front of your boss as it can turn out to be an unusually extreme statement and many may think you are a difficult person to mingle with. Instead of asking your boss to change your partner, ask him for solutions and advices on how you can make a good relationship with your colleague to make it go more smoothly in the future.

4. “ Do this favor to me or else I’ll Quit”:

This can be considered as a blackmailing kind of nature. This sought of behavior can be very difficult to you in the future. If at all you want to ask your employer a raise in your salary or want to ask for a day’s leave, don’t ask them in a threatening manner saying you will quit the job if they don’t grant you what you want because there are many options for the company you are working even if you quit their company, but it is you who will end up in trouble if you quit your job as there is huge competition out in the job market. Your wrong behavior can lose your manager’s respect towards you and your relationship may get spoilt.

5. “I can’t do this as I have to do that”:

Don’t ever refuse the offer your boss asks you to do. It is true that, you would have refused the new project because you still haven’t completed the work assigned to you earlier because of many problems. In that case instead of refusing the new project, try to explain and convince him about your present project and explain him the conflicts you are going through to complete the project. Instead of refusing the new work, it is good you ask him to assign the same work once you are done with the work instead of transferring it to the other person. It shows your interest in the new one
